  • Our club boasts the largest adult judo classes in the South West, welcoming members from our own club and other local groups into a safe, inclusive environment for training. Our diverse age range spans from 15 to 79 years, emphasizing our commitment to accessible, quality coaching.
  • We believe that expert technical instruction is essential for developing skilled judoka. Our team of British Judo-qualified coaches actively pursue ongoing professional development to maintain high standards.
  • Leadership of our classes is provided by Head Coach Chris Hunt 7th Dan, supported by Sam Delahay 4th Dan, a former British Champion and Commonwealth Games Silver medalist, along with Bernant Galiana Gonzalez 2nd Dan, a former Spanish International. The beginner courses are taught by Chris Hunt, Robert Winkworth 4th Dan, and Mark Comer 2nd Dan. Additionally, we offer top-tier kata instruction led by Ricky Leung 4th Dan and Chris Greenway 1st Dan, both current National Kata Champions.

Chris Hunt also serves as the Director of Examiners for Police Sport UK Judo, enabling him to examine  both competitive and technical Dan gradings.

  • Our classes are designed to be inclusive, with modifications available for those building fitness or returning after a break. Judoka train at their own pace, with no pressure to perform beyond their comfort level.
  • For members interested in competition, we have an active team regularly participating in championships.
  •  We also host frequent masterclasses featuring world-class coaches, providing advanced training opportunities.
  • For new beginners , we offer six-week beginner courses, with the first four weeks FREE.  These courses are structured with a high coach-to-player ratio to ensure optimal learning. Upon completion, participants are eligible for their first grading of Red Belt, and will gain the confidence and skills needed to join our regular classes.
  • Overall, our club prioritises skill development, inclusivity, and continuous improvement, making it an ideal environment for judoka of all levels and ages to progress and enjoy the sport.
